About Me

I'm Ian Walker, an Australian freelance journalist and travel writer who ditched his job as a full-time newspaper reporter to move to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

I hit 28, and seeing 30 coming, I couldn't imagine going through life never having learnt a new language or living in a totally foreign culture. I wanted memories of people and places that as an old man I'd sit back and shed a tear over and think "good on you, you crazy young bastard for doing that", and I've gotten them.
